A PRRA is a risk assessment application before the removal of a foreign national from Canada. With some exceptions, an individual can submit a paper application describing why they would face persecution if removed back to their country of origin.
You cannot apply for a PRRA if you are:
- Protected persons and Convention refugees
- People subject to an authority to proceed under the Extradition Act
- Claimants coming from a safe third country
- Certain refugee claimants and previous PRRA applicants
